Our Latest Addition: Audrey

Here is God's latest gift to our family. Audrey was born around 1030 a.m. on September 8th. She weighed in at 7lbs and 8oz, 19 inches long, and scored a 9 and 9 on her apgar....lost a point for color. She is a miracle that our family is blessed to have received. Her birth began at 1130 p.m. on 9/07/08 with some contractions that gave Shelley a little pain and were about 10 minutes apart. As the night went on the contractions got stronger, longer, more painful and closer together. When the reached about 5 minutes apart we decided to go in to the hospital. Shelley's parents came out to stay with Preston and we were to the hospital by close to 2:00 a.m. Shelley was only dilated to 1cm and the labor eventually slowed down and a decision had to be made about having a c-section or inducing labor which is a risk because of a previous c-section. The doctors also wanted to get Audrey out because Shelley had been running a fever for the last couple of days and was up to a fever of 102 degrees in the morning of the 8th and they were concerned there might be an infection in her uterus that could harm the baby. Shelley elected to take the noble path and have Audrey by c-section to avoid any further risk to the baby, even though it means she can only have c-sections from now on and is limited to having at max 4 children without putting her future babies at risk for complications. Once the c-section was decided on, it took about 45 minutes from prep for surgery to the closing of Shelley's incision to have our little Audrey. I would like to request prayer for Shelley's healing, for the her road to recovery to be as easy as possible, for baby Audrey's continued good health, and Preston's attitude as he has to adjust to his little sister. Praise God for Audrey! Grandpa we can't wait for you to come and see Grandma's namesake.
